Virtual Site Share & Colloquium Resources and Info
Please review all the info below carefully.
Site Shares and Colloquiums are an opportunity for teachers to publicly share growth in connection to their goals. It is a powerful form of professional development. This is a requirement because when teachers engage in this process they:
  • Develop and expand their leadership capacity by strengthening connections and learnings with their colleagues
  • Deepen and cement their learnings so that they are more likely to replicate their successes in the future
  • Build community by celebrating their successes and have thought partnership around possible next steps
  • Strengthen site and district initiatives and goals

Site Share Dates:
  • To Be Determined by Teachers, Evaluators and Mentors at Sites
Colloquium Dates:
  • Wednesday, May 19th, 4:00-5:00

Next Steps:
  • Mentors may indicate/adjust in the PT/PD Spreadsheet for each teacher up until May 7th.
  • Confirm final determination in the PT/PD by end of day May 7th. Columns will be locked by 5pm.
  • If changes are needed after, put into the pink column, K: Mentor Record Updated information. (This will alert Patti and Leadership)

Site Shares

Site shares are encouraged for all teachers. As mentors, we are gradually releasing teachers to their role as teacher leaders at their own sites. For them to be able to share with their colleagues their journey in developing as an antiracist not only cements their learning, it will inspire the support of their community. Site Shares can occur anytime during the month of May.

Before Site Share:
  1. Use the mentors at sites list to determine if there are other mentors at your site to coordinate your site share date.
  2. See the Preparing for a Site Share tool for a sample agenda that can be adapted and tailored to your teacher's context.
  3. Use this teacher resource to support teachers in preparing to share

During Site Share: Use this Site Share CAL to debrief the experience with the participants at the Site Share

After Site Share: Verify Site Share Attendance following the protocol below
  1. Use this Site Share CAL to debrief the experience with the participants at the Site Share
  2. Complete the info at the top of the CAL which includes:
  • Mentor(s)
  • Evaluator(s)
  • Attendance (type names of PTs)
  • Date
3. Share Site Share CAL with Patti and Marvilyn via Google Drive

Colloquium

Colloquium might be a choice for teachers who would like to connect with teachers across the county. Their evaluators should also be invited to join them in small breakout groups and listen to their teachers share their stories in connection to their journey as an antiracist educator and how they grew from focusing on their goal area(s).

Below is a sample agenda.
  1. Opening and Overview (10 min)
  2. *Small Group Sharing (30 minutes)
    1. 6 min to share/teacher
    2. 2 min to debrief - share appreciations
    3. Switch
    4. Small Group Debrief
  3. Whole Group Debrief (10 minutes)
  4. Closure and Feedback (5 min)

Mentor Expectations

  • Work with teachers and site administrators in determining which type of sharing will best foster each teacher’s professional growth
  • Collaborate with teachers in preparing to share
  • Coordinate, as appropriate, the sharing experience. For example, working with mentors at shared sites, site administrators, and other leaders for whom attendance may be appropriate.
  • Attend and support Site Share/Colloquium depending on which is selected.

Preparing Teachers to Share

Each teacher has a unique story to share. How and what they share is individualized to what is important to them. This teacher resource is available to support teachers in preparing to share which includes:
  • Purpose of this Professional Development Event
  • Sample Site Share/Colloquium Agenda
  • Possible Ideas for Sharing
  • Plan for Preparing
Here are some tips to support using the teacher resource:
  • Share with teachers the purpose of the event and connect them to their why. What do they want from this experience?
  • Ask them about prior experiences they’ve had in sharing their teaching practice. What went well? What was a challenge?
  • In reviewing the possible ideas for sharing, develop questions to ask them about what they think is important to share about their journey this year as an anti-racist educator and/or in their goal area(s). What impact could their sharing have on others?
  • Reflect together on how much time they have to share and their communication style. Brainstorm what would support them in sharing their story within the time allotted. What would support them in having the experience they hope to have?
