Here are a few steps you can take to get started successfully this year:
- Make sure you have worked with your school/district's HR department to complete your Eligibility Form. This form, along with a copy of your credential, are reviewed by our Program Manager to ensure you are eligible for induction and clear you to begin work with your mentor. Year 2 teachers, you still need to submit an Eligibility Form so we have your most updated information--just not another copy of your credential.
- Attend your school/district orientation in August or early September. This orientation will help you learn more about Induction in California, the Santa Cruz/Silicon Valley New Teacher Project, and your journey with your mentor over the next two years.
- Begin building a trusting and collaborative relationship with your mentor. He/she is a highly trained facilitator of your personalized Induction program and an invaluable resource in your success this year. Remember to have a growth mindset, ask questions, share honestly, and be open to feedback. Taking this approach to the work will ensure you have a worthwhile and meaningful experience.
At any point during orientation or during your time with us, please do not hesitate to ask questions of either your mentor or your Program leaders. We wish you and your students a wonderful year together full of growth, laughter, and learning.
Sincerely,
The Santa Cruz/Silicon Valley New Teacher Project (SC/SVNTP) Leadership Team
